Check the address before applying
A business within the City of Altamonte Springs must review both city and Seminole County business tax requirements. Confirm whether the operating address is inside city limits before choosing the application route; a mailing address is a starting point, not a jurisdiction determination.
Altamonte Springs participates in the county’s one-stop process, collecting the county fee through the city. Confirm the combined receipt details so you do not make a duplicate county application.
Use the current city workflow
The city directs new applications and renewals through Civic Access. Some occupations also require proof of state licensing. The city reviews zoning compliance before issuing the receipt; submitting an application does not itself authorize opening.
Keep your application, required attachments, payment confirmation and issued receipts together. For an address or ownership change, ask the city which transfer or new-application process applies rather than simply editing a name in the bookkeeping software.
Build an administrative record you can reuse
Make a short register showing the legal business name, trade name, location, account details and next renewal action. Assign someone to check the account and agency correspondence before the deadline.
Reconcile application and renewal payments to the bank records and retain the supporting documents. For a new location, maintain a separate folder for that site so expenses and approvals are easy to locate. Bring the file to a bookkeeping consultation with Jacobwise & Co., along with any unanswered agency questions. Keep licensing and zoning decisions with the responsible city or state office.
